Texture Straight Images

I think that this picture represents texture well since the wood streaks in that formation appeals to me as the viewer. It also bring a warm feeling because of the orange colours involved in the photo.







This also appeals to me since this photo has me question what surface or materiel this is. It also bring about a warm feeling since the orange lighting reflected off of the white surface.









I think this is a good photo since it has a direct view of the subject being the roast potatoes in the shot. It also brings a warm feeling to the photo because of the yellow and orange colour of the potatoes.







I like this photo since it clearly shows how sand can be in many forms and has me imagine how it would be like walking on this sand.









This photo appeals to me since it also has me imagine how it would be like to play with the sand as if I was younger once again. The various tones also help demonstrate how the sand can be constructed in different forms such as hills or flat surfaces.

This photo was taken of a laminated wooden surface with an ISO sensitivity of 200 and a slower shutter speed since the surrounding lighting was dark. I did not use flash since the light would have reflected off of the laminated surface. If it were to happen, The photo would have been ruined by the glare it would have created.





This photo was taken of a knitted cover with a low ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speed since the flash was active during the shot. This photo could have been better taken if the holes in the pattern were orderly arranged to make the photo more appealing to the viewer.






This photo was taken of a kitchen surface with a low ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speed since the flash was again active during the shot. This photo is lightly out of frame so to improve on this photo, It would need to be cropped and rotated to be visually pleasing to the viewer.

I have improved on the original photo by rotating and cropping parts of the photo. This edit now brings out the full texture of the surface and displays the slight reflection from the tiles.

Texture - tactile qualities of the physical surface of the object.

Seeing and capturing texture is based on one element - light. Texture can the accentuated by the side light of the early sun mornings or early evenings, or by overhead light when the sun is vertical and high in the sky.

Pattern - underlying structure that organises surfaces or structure in  a consistent, regular manner.

Can be described as a repeating unit of shape or form, but it can also be thought as the 'skeleton' that organises parts of a composition.

They are simply repeated shapes, colours or objects, ordered in either regular of irregular formations. Using pattern is key to good composition and can transform an otherwise bland image into something dramatic and eye catching. Patterns are formulated around us in natural and man made settings.

Regular patterns consist of line or colours that repeat in a strict formation. Filling a from with clear lines or geometric information.

Irregular lines direct contrast to regular patters. In this case, patterns can be found in irregular formations such as the natural world.
